Good Books on rebuilding a 350?

Hey All,

I just inherited my Grandpa's old 69 Longhorn (pics will come). I am planning on doing a frame off restoration over the next couple of years starting in the spring. I know a couple of body guys who are already teaching me things, but I don't have access to a good engine guy to learn from. The truck runs great for being 40 years old, but I do want to eventually do a rebuild and was wondering about good books about the 350. Anyone know of any that would be helpful to a relative engine newby?

Re: Good Books on rebuilding a 350?

Hey thanks, I did check and my local library doesn't have any on the subject but they are getting me the Chevy Small Block one and the set of the dvds on a loan from somewhere else. So I will have something to do while it is to damn cold in my shop to be there for very long.

I agree on the engine building DVD - covers EVERYTHING in detail from pulling the motor, etc.

Well worth the $.

I agree with everyone else on the boxwrench DVD, I got mine a week ago. If you haven't checked out youtube yet, boxwrench has a bunch of sample clips available. Caution, after watching a few, it will be hard not to order the DVD's. I also picked up the 700R4 rebuilding DVD. There sure are a lot of parts in that transmission.

I've used the How To Rebuild Your Small Block Chevy by David Vizard. It has some casting numbers printed along with nice step by step directions.

X2 about the David Vizard book. I've had mine 20 years and review before any rebuild.
