Question Can we discuss G10/G20/G30 vans or ...

This past weekend I acquired a '79 Coachmen van (a modified G30 with SBC) and can not seem to find a dedicated forum for discussing Chevy vans...

I would like to mod the engine like I would in my trucks, but need some advice and comments on what I should do to an engine that obviously has to continuously carry a load.

Can I post here or should I take that kind of talk somewhere else...

you can post in here if you want but this is basically pickup trucks. You can try to ask in the engines and drivetrains section or even general discussion, where you will prolly get more replies

Thanks Bob, that's kind of what I thought also.
The lack of something similar for G10/G20/G30 owners, continues to prove just how great a resource that this board really is to truck owners...

I've also wondered why there isn't a section for G-vans. After all, they are technically trucks, same drivetrains and all.

That's exactly what I wondered and thought about the situation.
I am going to take a close look between my K10 and the G30 to see how the engine bays are different. Obviously the truck's will have more engine bay space, as the driver's and passenger's feet wells do not extend into the area...
I already know that the factory cruise master equipment is scattered across the intake manifold, instead of along the driver's side fender.

ghettoluxury - I tried to PM you, but I guess you've disallowed it. Send me a PM please, you are so close I have probably seen your truck & smelled your exhaust...

As i am also leaning towards getting a van---either an astro or G series, i too am perplexed at the lack of van forums on the net---especially considering the craze/explosion that happened inthe 70's.

In the meantime you might try chevytalk:
http://www.chevytalk.org/fusionbb/portal/index.php

They have a small, modest section (but a section nontheless) concerning 71-96 vans.

Yes, i have caught "van fever." (30 yrs. late)

I picked up a set of used long tube truck headers for the same year range, so I will see how much "truck" these vans really are...

The foot wells and the removable cabin "hump" are a bit of a PITA when trying to do anything with the engine...
Image trying to degrease an engine that is "inside" the cab of your truck, pressure washing is not your friend, unless you plan on replacing your upholstery...
