soon to be a newbie

Yeah i'm looking at getting a 71 GMC pu from a friend of mine. It has a 327 in it right now but he's pulling that and putting it in his 61 bubble top Impala but he has an older surburban with a 350 in it will that be a direct bolt on? The truck also has a colum shift in it.I've never driven a colum shift before so that will be something new to learn.lol The truck he's selling for 500.00 and the extra motor for 300.00 so for 800.00 i should have something that will atleast run. What should i be looking for in problem areas with these trucks?any helpful info will be appreciated. we both do body work and he has a paintbooth at his house(where the truck is right now).
