I have a 71' C20, and I picked up a bunch of landscaping bricks and spread them out in the bed. Right now they are weight for the snow and ice; next summer they will adorn my backyard!

I don't have a 68 3/4 ton, but I do have a 70 one ton with a big block.... sometimes I'll add some weight, but usually I just let it go.

Sacks of sand will lay back there and come in handy if stuck.

My soloution: Engage my lockouts and pull the transfercase shifter back into 4 Hi

Exactly why I love 4x4 trucks, fun in the summer, useful in the winter

when i used o live in the frozen north i'd get bags of sandblasting sand put the bags in plastic garbage bags to avoid moisture probs then in the sping i'd be all set up with blasting sand to go to town on what i took apart during the winter//usually carried about 500lbs most winters

i use a tool box, two spare 235/85/r16 tires two snowblowers 10-15bags a salt 50lbs each, 6 shovels and assorted landscaping and wood tools, buckets, a sheet 1/8in steel (supposed to be for bed repair never get to it) two 2x8 ramp boards and 2 15ft lengths of towing chain. total weight depending on how many bags salt, and not sure weight on snowblower maybe 100-150lbs each? their 26in self propelled iron blocks, id say 900-1200lbs i plow and shovel in winter i do 4 condos sets each condo set has about 20 driveways and 40 walkways plus three businesses so that truck stays loaded!! the trucks a gmc c20 w/292 still gets 15-16mpg loaded though! the pic is my truck during one of this years storms u cant see the snowblowers cuz me and my coworker are using them

I use 2 old dumptruck tires mounted on steel rims. I drove through 8" of unplowed snow yesterday with a non-posi rear. Did O.K. until I got to a snow drift going up hill in Mom's driveway. I got a lot further than I expected to.

I've got a big honking orange tool box that weighs a lot and a lot more when it is full. I like Sean's idea though. I have a couple of steel plates about half and inch thick out here that I was going to put under the tool box but they are frozen in place by the shed.
