What rust free floors look like
I've seen alot of pictures of blazers on here that are pretty rusty, I envy those with enough ambition to bring them back from the dead.
I Thought those might appreciate what rust free floors look like from Arizona I pulled the interior today for new seat covers and fresh carpet and snapped a few pics of what was hiding underneath. None of this stuff had been removed before, it was nice to see all the foam and black matting still in place. Interestingly when I pulled the roll bar, it has what appears to be a part number or description of sorts that was sprayed on with a template. Couldn't see it in the truck as it's right on top against the roof. Roll bar comes out by the way,,,,without removing the top. It pushes forward and slides right out the passenger door. No sweat |

Re: What rust free floors look like
Oh by the way, could someone enlighten me on the long spring that attaches to the floor behind the driver seat??
I remember this may have held some of the jack equipment but I cannot recall what went there or how it was oriented. If anyone has a picture that would be helpfull. I am also reinstalling the spare tire mount behind the rear seat. The 4 bolts are still in the floor and self explainatory, but I'm puzzled with a pair of smaller bolts that are side by side and place in the middle of the tire holder, close to the rear seat. I'm pretty sure they are original as they have some of the old carpet pinned underneath of them. I'm thinking maybe it held another bracket to secure the jack??? Just a guess. I can snap a pic of them if it helps. Thanks. |

Re: What rust free floors look like
Which??? The spring behind the seat or the pair of extra bolts under the spare tire holder??
The only thing that was with the spring was a long foldable jack handle that opens up to about 3 feet in length,,,,and it wasn't really installed back there properly, rattled around and what not. Have any pics of how this is supposed to be installed?? |

Re: What rust free floors look like
Ya I was a bit shocked myself. Now I'm torn on how I want to paint the darn thing I may mask that off and save it, (it can't be seen with the top on anyway) and just paint the rest to match the interior.

I was afraid I would hear what you are telling me about the jack under the spare tire carrier. Because now that means I have to go on the hunt for a small plate with another spring for that stupid thing And I have no idea what I'm looking for. Anyone have a picture??? |

WOW, thanks for making my blazer look like absolute garbage...just kidding. Your blazer looks good, envious for sure. I can't wait to make mine rust free then i'll show you! You might ask 72LEVI about the orientation of the jack near the spare carrier because his is still in place.

On the jack instructions it's very hard to tell just exactly how the tire iron is oriented. Very easy to make out the jack handle though. There is also a small hook behind the front seat, just about in the middle of the spring, that is bolted to the floor. I'm sure that's for something, but what I don't know. I'm going to have to find that bracket and spring for the jack itself, it appears that's all I'm missing. I have everything else. |

Re: What rust free floors look like
I honestly thought I was looking at my own pictures when I first opened this thread. Mine are completely rust free too.

Re: What rust free floors look like
Mine came form Washington State, Now it is in Snow country and I occasionally drive it in on the winter too. Maybe they put something special in this shade of Orange paint that repels the rust.

The good ole' desert Southwest
It's hard on the paint and plastic but that's the easy stuff to replace Got the rollbar painted and the carpet installed today. Not completely happy with the quality of the carpet kit, but it is what it is. Tomorrow I tackle the seat covers. |
