advice: 1969 C20 CST factory buckets & tach

I am looking at buying a 1969 CST 20 2wd lwb that has factory buddy buckets and a factory tach dash. The truck is pretty straight with the usual suspects. It has been stored for the last 20 years but the guy drove it the mile home from storage the other day. I have seen pics and it has most of the original trim pieces(missing the uppers on the box) and looks to be pretty decent. He rebuilt the original engine and it has a 4-speed. Any ideas on what it would be worth?

Matt

Re: advice: 1969 C20 CST factory buckets & tach

If it's a 69' with buddy buckets, they won't be original to the truck. As buddy buckets are a 67-68 thing. 69-72 had bucket seats and console. As far as price, it could depend. It should be worth atleast $1500 I would imagine, but with no pics of it, it's hard to give a price. Tach would be atleast $200, and the buddy buckets are pretty hard to come by cheap. I would say they are atleast worth $500 the way everyone wants them. Trevor

Re: advice: 1969 C20 CST factory buckets & tach

well, weather permitting, i am going to look at the truck tomorrow to make sure that the seats are the REAL DEAL and the tach as well. I have never seen a set of these seats in person, but have looked on this website to find out what they look like in general. I have seen a couple with tach's in person although they were always in the larger C30 and up variety. Wish me luck and i will let anyone who wants to know if I made a deal or not when I get back

Merry Christmas to all

I found a pretty nice '67 fleetside LWB with a 327 & TH400. It has the original buddy buckets in it. The guy wants $1750 for it and I offered him $1500. It doesn't have the tach. He hasn't called me back yet.

Re: advice: 1969 C20 CST factory buckets & tach

I do know the truck is an original 350 engine, not BB... The guy told me that the heads are double hump, so they are out of an earlier chevy. I don't know any more about them. Will find out tomorrow.....

Oh yeah, does anyone know, if it does have factory buckets, would it show on the SPID?

I know the tach should be on there.

Re: advice: 1969 C20 CST factory buckets & tach

Oh yeah, one more thing......I did find a little bit of production number info for the C10's. Orange Crush said there were about 7,000 of them made. Anybody out there have the numbers for a C20?

Thanks for all the help

Re: advice: 1969 C20 CST factory buckets & tach

i don't have my book with me at the moment, but I highly doubt there were only 7000 SWB trucks built in 70.
As for value... with the very limited info you've given, anywhere between 200 to 5000 bucks.

A book I have gives the production numbers for a 2WD 69 C20 Fleetside at 74894 units;
I don't believe there is a breakdown by option type as in CST

Re: advice: 1969 C20 CST factory buckets & tach

after lookin it up, only 6% of the trucks built in 69 had the CST package.
The problem with that figure, is it includes ALL trucks that could get it. So 6% or all short step, short fleet, 2 wheel or 4 wheel drive, then all the long step, long fleet, 2 wheel and 4 wheel drive, then figure in all the 3/4 ton, both step and fleet, 2 and 4 wheel drive, then all the cab/chassis trucks... then all the one ton trucks, don't forget all the blazers, in 2 wheel and 4 wheel drive...
They never kept track of what model number truck got what option or option packages.
It is safe to ASSUME that most of the CST trucks were fleet side and 1/2 ton, but to assume something like this takes away all credibility when claiming that your truck is one of xxxx built.
Example, my C/30 longhorn is one of 1404 built. It is probably one of less than a dozen with factory cruise control... but I'll never claim that becouse there is no documentation of it anywhere.

Re: advice: 1969 C20 CST factory buckets & tach

After looking at the production numbers of the C/10 trucks in 1969... only counting short step, short fleet, long cab/chassis, long step and long fleet... 2 wheel drive only, the number comes out to 393,316 C/10 trucks. 6% of that is 23,599 (rounded up to a whole number)
So IF we wanted to ASSUME the 6% figure was evenly distributed across all the models of '69 chevy trucks, then there were more than just 7000 of them.

To take this to a more acurate representation of how many CSTs were built in 69, including all the models that the package was avalible on, then of the 535,706 trucks built in 69, that means 32,142 trucks got the CST badge mounted on the fender (or doo... blazer) that year.

Re: advice: 1969 C20 CST factory buckets & tach

the body is very straight, but needs the usual. The color on the SPID is white/turquoise..........so the someone had painted the roof the color green that it is. I kind of like the green, but you can see in several places where the white is coming through. It is going to need a couple of trim pieces on the box and drivers side fender and it has no front bumper, so I need to go searching that as well.
I can't wait to bring it home, probaby 8 mpg.

Re: advice: 1969 C20 CST factory buckets & tach

Trevor, sorry I didn't take any pictures yesterday when I went and looked at it. It does have factory buckets and console in turqouise which ROCKS!!!!!!!!!!!! It also had factory a/c, but since it has the camel hump heads, the a/c compressor and underhood items have been removed!
All of the a/c stuff inside the cab is still there and seems functional............

The tach was not factory, so that is a bummer as well.

When I get the truck, I will post pics of the interior! I love that it is a 3/4 ton and not a 1/2. I can't even find pics of another 1969 3/4 ton CST on here.....

That stinks about the tach, but it sounds like you got yourself one nice project. Good luck with it, and please post pics when you drag it home. As far as my interior, it has the 70-71' bright blue/medium blue interior. Trevor
