Cab undercoating ? - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

When I get my cab back from the body shop I wan to undercoat the bottom of the cab whats best to coat it with? would undercoating in a can work or something like por15 or maybe a brush on bed liner matrial work better? Just need some feed back and pictures would be great.Thanks Brandon

Back in my growing up years in the 50's and early 60's a lot of vehicles were treated with "undercoating." A material similar to bedliner. I hated the stuff.

The main reason I disliked it was that after years of use and sheet metal being flexible, it would crack and allow moisture, dirt or salt spray to get into the crack and rust the metal unseen. Also the stuff looks ugly. My 68 GMC has the stuff under the wheel wells front and rear. Still rusted along the edges.

In my opinion, one would be better of using a tough paint like Rustoleum or similar. It would be easier to see any damage and repair it.

Have you consisdered "Lizardskin"? It is a relatively newer product, but is good for sound deadening and heat transfere issues.

ALs liner is a good product for that, It's pretty reasonable also.
