got some free stuff! and got my 73 front clip!

well, few weeks ago after i painted my rims and decided to go with a classic, hot rod look on my truck, considering i have 3 sets of 15x8 rallies in my back yard, i figured i could afford to trade 2 15x8's for 2 van rallies,i got a few hits, but 2 fell through, and one wanted a set for a set, and i didnt want to lose an entire set of 15x8's, well a few days ago i posted an ad to trade my 91 clip for a 73-79 clip, i got a call today, and went to look at it, in the process we were walking around his shop and i spotted one van rally, he let me have it, then he spotted another and said didnt you need 2? here you go, then he showed me an air cleaner, i said it was neat, and he gave it to me, then he dug into a pile of trim rings and said here, these are the best i got, they'll look good on them rallies, wow, this is a generous guy! he is giving me a PILE of parts, said to pick the best for my clip, and whatevers left just keep, he had 4 73-79 pick ups and has burb clips on em all, he said can you tell i like them? so he has piles and piles of parts, and he even gave me 2 hoods, ones a louvered hood, i will use it til i buy a cowl, he even said he'dgove me the trim that goes around the cab under the glass, and the drip rails, i'll have pic's of the clip and stuff soon, but for now, heres my score of the day!

Question:what tire size should i run up front? what will look better? can i find something to look good with the 255/70's? or will something look better with my 275/60's? thanks!

Nice haul. I have three of those trim rings hanging in my garage. Nobody wants them. I wish I could get that lucky at getting parts. I wouldn't mind seeing that louvered hood.

yea, i kept saying, are you sure? he was like man, look around..i have a kingdom of 73-87 parts, if you need anything, just let me know and i'll hook you up, id rather see someone use it on their truck then see it go to waste! and i was going to order 2 more rings, i have 2 off my corvette wheels from my elcamino, and i was using them on my truck, but one side has vette rings, other has rings off a 88-98 truck, no i have a set! and i'll get pics as soon as i get it, he had one fender brand new in the box! and the other is rust free in great condition! we went to the fenced in area in the back, and he was showing me a 78 shortbed, no motor or trans, but extremly clean truck, had a small hit in front (what the new fender was for) all the original trim around, clean interior, he was like, if you would have came 2 weeks earlier i would have gave you that, i just gave it to a guy, if he never comes for it, its yours! i can only pray

Re: got some free stuff! and got my 73 front clip!

yea! he is a really nice guy, it was amazing all the parts he had, literally a kingdom of 73-87 parts! he has a crewcab duallly bagged to the ground he is using the clip on, and i indeed invited him to the site! he said he usually needs help around the summer (he is a nurse by day, bodyman by night) aat his shop, and that he'd love to have some help with the projects from time time, so we will definately see how this goes! unfortunately we just got snowed in, so nothing can be done today

Re: got some free stuff! and got my 73 front clip!

nice score!

As far as your question goes I am running the same setup on my truck. And per advise on this site I am running a 275/60 tire out back and a 235/70 up front. I like how it looks and they are very close to the same height so you only need one spare

Nice score indeed!

I got an air cleaner just like that one given to me once, after the kid didn't have any luck selling it at his yard sale.
