I ordered my lowering kit (including the flip kit and c-notch) from them many years ago and had no problems.

Re: sporttruckdirect.com Decent reputation?

A few years back, I ordered a lowering kit for my tahoe, I bought a shackle/hanger for the back, and lowering coils for the front. I bought Western Chassis, which was the cheapest stuff they had. The rear went down without a hitch, it was as I expected. The front, however, did not. After I installed the lowering coils I measured how far down my 2 inch drop got me, it measured +1/4 of an inch. Not happy. I called them and told them the story, and they said "cut the springs". I explained to them that if i was wanting to cut the coils, i would have cut the stockers and saved me some $. We went back and forth on it, I offered to ship them back to them at MY cost and pay the difference to get some belltech spindles, they said no because the springs were mounted. I said they didnt do what the were supposed to do, and they would not help me out. I realize that the performance of the kit was not their fault, but, their unwillingness to help me out really disappointed me. Hope that helps

Re: sporttruckdirect.com Decent reputation?

STD does not make or store the products...they just take your order and have the parts shipped from the mfr. Their customer service absolutely SUCKS! I have had two orders with them, and each had their own issue. Never again I tell ya.

tswore, I hd the same problem wit my 2" drop coils as well.

Re: sporttruckdirect.com Decent reputation?

Is there anyplace where you can buy just the Western Chassis rear flip kit without buying it in a kit with the front springs?

STD also sells the stuff seperately.

Re: sporttruckdirect.com Decent reputation?

I just recieved my flip kit.

The good:

Quality:

The quality of this kit is AMAZING all of the supplied parts are BEEFY , the plates and U-bolts are much thicker than stock.
The U-bolts included each come with one flat washer , one lock washer , and of course a nut.

Finnish: Looks good it is a hammered metal type paint I got out a small ballpean hammer and gave the finnish a few knocks in a area that would not be seen . It withstood the blows and the paint was unscathed.

The bad: (which insn't that bad)

I cut open my box as soon as the UPS man gave it to me and went inside to check it out and soon relised my kit was missing both bolt in C-notches. Before I jumped to conclusions I called up S.T.D thinking mabey the C- notches were shipped seperately. They informed me none were in stock at the time of my order so more had to be built at western chassis and they had shipped out today and gave me the UPS shipping code to verify this.

All In all my experience with S.T.D has been good as far as customer service goes and the finnish/construction of the products I recieved. The shipping is quick but that may also me because of my location in the midwest (S.T.D located in Arizona)

I have yet to install my flip kit so I can't yet comment on how it went on or any modification I may or may not have to do.

I put the box out in my garage so I will try to go get some pictures later and then a write up of the C-notches when they arrive.

Re: sporttruckdirect.com Decent reputation?

Also another thing to note. The kit does not include shock extenders but they didn't claim they came with the kit in there advertisement so it's a moot point. Anyways my truck has some shistey shocks on the back to begin with so I will just invest in some drop shocks or air shocks.

The bell tech kit includes the extenders but it is close to $150-200 more than the western chassis kit.

Re: sporttruckdirect.com Decent reputation?

Chlsnk, measure your U-bolts for the flip kit...they should be 3" inside...BOTH my flip kits from WC (ordered thru STD) came with the wrong size, 3 1/4" I believe. WC is impossible to get a hold of, their site was down recently and number disconnected or something. You may have to spend some add'l coin and get the correct size from your local parts provider.

Your axle won't be secured properly...you'll have a gap between the bolts and the flip kit brackets. Could cause the axle to twist/rotate or not seat correctly...and put add'l stress on the u-bolts themselves. Get the correct size.

Re: sporttruckdirect.com Decent reputation?

Thanks for the review Chlsnk, your experiance helps everyone.

It seems this kit is not without its problems and the need to replace parts straight out of the box. That said, where would one order a kit that was no hassel? Ive considered STD, summit, ect., but with reading some of the reviews like this one, I dont know that I trust one company any more than the others

Re: sporttruckdirect.com Decent reputation?

Just went to the trailer store and picked up the correct U-bolts 8.99 each grade 8 from what they told me so I still think STD is a viable source.
