got a set of suicidedoors upper bag plates and lower control arm drop-in cups, nice stuff from Santa.

it appears as if they could be a bit shorter. I swear I read that someone cut down their cups to 1.5", right now they are 2.5"

anyone try this mod? thanks gang!!!

mine are cut to about 1 inch

Seems like I remember Gringoloco cutting his down to a total height of 1-5/8".

i thought 1" is too short for 67-72 (if i remember right)...i think it was 1 1/2" . the 73-87 was 1". i would have to search again because i havent read it in a while

lol, i seen that thread. i think he has more of a problem with recessing the cups. i see no problem cutting them down. doesnt the air ride cups come smaller than the suicidedoors?

It really depends on your tire height, and what you want your ride height to be.

im not saying he has more experience and knowledge, because they are both very talented people and both know what they are doing.

your right about the tire height thing though, because im pretty sure you cant use inner fenders with drop spindles and cut cups. i guess it depends on how far the owner wants to go

pretty sure the SD cups and ART cups are NOT the same height and, just a guess here, I would think Nate is talking about ART cups since he is a dealer for them ...

I cut an inch off of mine. Made a huge difference in the way it looked when aired out.

Considering the fact that tubular arms move the bag lower on the arms than is even achievable with cut cups in stock arms I don't get the argument against cutting cups. As long as they are cut to a height where the bags don't rub (which differs with the years of the arms). Yes, the tubular arms correct ball joint angle, but they have a greater need for this due to the more severe angles afforded by the adjusted bag position.

If you were to debate which to do first; drop-spindles or cut cups, I could see the argument for spindles first, but if you will do both eventually then the order doesn't really matter.
