what it this? From 86 suburban

This was behind the gauge cluster and attached to the speedo. Is this part of the cruise control?

Yep, Drac box I think it's called. Lockout converter if your truck is an auto too.

Its not just for cruise. It is the optical sensor that gives the ECM the speed info from the speedometer since the truck has a mechanical speedometer.

It attaches to the back of the speedometer with a tiny self tapping screw.
