1983 4whl drive Chevy 305 auto

Ok fellas I need your help. Very interested in this truck I mentioned above. Gonna take pics of the truck in the am and post. The 4 wheel drive is getting the best of me. But it's been sitting since 98. Old man died and it was the family work truck. They are asking $1500 and I told him i'll give em 9. That 305 will have to go. I drove the truck and it has some slight damage on passenger side door and bed. Its faded red but truck sits very stought and tranny and 4wheel drive worked PERFECT. Needs a dash im sure brake lines and other things. My concern is it's been sitting for 11 years. But I looked it over real good and the truck was cold. He has been driving it around the block to keep it lubed. The truck started right up with no problem. I dunno my new friends. Help me out here.

If it starts and runs, it's a GREAT TRUCK!! The parts alone cost more thatn 4X4. Especially if it has a NP205.

Sounds like a DEAL Chief, Just some things to look at since it has been sitting would be rubber parts. Spring and shock bushings and the cab/core support bushings, Also as you mentioned brake lines and hoses.

I wished I could find deals around here like everyone post all the time. Heck I can't even find a cab shell for my 74 project, That's why I bought my 97.....

Sorry Chief,

Shell meaning a stripped down cab (no doors/dash/glass etc.) These old squares are hard to come by around here in any kind of shape.....

He's referring to the transfer case, New Process 205s are tough as nail.205s are a gear drive transfer case. The 203s are chain drives.

Re: 1983 4whl drive Chevy 305 auto

If they drove it enough to keep the rust from building up in the cylinder walls it will be OK. If you don't care about the 305 and want to drop in a 350 then no worries as long as the brakes work and no brake fluid is leaking out.

Automatic or manual trans? Short bed or long bed? 1/2-ton or 3/4-ton?
