Screw In Rocker Stud Question
Some of my rocker studs are pulling out of my inline 6 250...I can't seem to find a specific screw in stud made for that engine. I know I will have to get it machine since OEM is push in, but from what I'm seeing, it looks like the same studs are used on the 5.7L. They do make a set of screw in studs for the 5.7L...would these also work length wise? Obviously I need to get them machined into the block but I'm thinking they would work. They appear to be a bit shallower on the head end, but that really shouldn't matter I wouldn't think as long as they are fastened securely and properly.
Any help is greatly appreciated. I want to eventually swap to a non-integral head, however for now I've been quoted 125 to get the machining done and I can basically be back up and running which is what I need to start working. Thanks, Lance |

Re: Screw In Rocker Stud Question
I haven't popped the valve cover on my 80 model yet. But I believe they are going to be the same as the v8 models. Be very careful of the machinist you use. The Screw in studs have to be drilled and tapped. I've seen a rookie drill clean through the water jackets on some Ford heads. To my neighbors amazement when he filled his new motor up with water before firing it up, water came ouy of the carburator!!!!!!!!!!!
