my 02 GMC

I dont really ever look at this part of the board but I figured I'd check it out since I bought an '02 a couple months back. I really wanted a diesel but just didnt want to pay the extra $$. I added readylift key's in front, bfg 295's w/weld wheels (I wish it sat a little taller), JL Audio stealthbox, tonneau cover, and a flowmaster cat back so far.

Nice looking truck Adam. Is it a 2500HD, or 1500HD?

I think the only real thing I dont like about it is the mpg, but it still beats the mpg I got out of my work truck

Re: my 02 GMC

Yeah that is kind of a downside. I look at it like this. I had a 94 GMC Ext cab short bed before this. Mine gets about the same mpg as that did. So I added more room in the cab, 4X4, and the ability to tow a LOT more. So you have to put in perspective. I added a tonneau cover to mine and it helped some. Right now though I'm about to replace my gauge cluster for the second time. Other than that I haven't had any problems with it, and I have put about 58,000 miles on it since I have owned it, 108,000 miles total.

Nice! Yeah the mpg isn't great but it'll give you plenty of power whenever you need it. Should be a good truck for you. I bet it gets better mpg than my 70 with the 402BB!

1500hd is basicly a 2500 non hd CCSB(shorter frame and payload is smaller...) , 5.3 were in the regular 1/2 ton 6 lug trucks.

How do you like the 8.1? I have my eye on a work truck with an 8.1 but not sure I want to give up any more mpg for work.

Re: my 02 GMC

Yeah the 1500HD's are the 3/4 ton frame trucks from the 88-98 body style. Like Adam said they don't have the same capacities as the 2500HD's, and only came with the 6.0 motors. I have a friend that has the 8.1 in his 2500HD 2wd, and he gets the same gas mileage that mine gets. He said the same thing it pulls anything! Mine struggles off the line with a load behind it, but once you get up to speed it does great.

On GMT800 pickups like this one, 2500 pickups came with the 6.0l motors as well. 8.1l and dmax were optional.

Right, except Adam's is a 1500HD not a 2500HD. As I stated the 1500HD's only came with the 6.0's.
