vin number questions

what web site can i go to that can look up my vin number and decode it for me. i have a 72 chevy sub that was built for the forestry department in california that has a 13 character vin # and i cannot find a place that will decode it and i also have a 69 chevy that has olny a twelve # vin if any one can tell me of a good site i would appreciate it

The first few pages of the LMC Truck catalog has a VIN decoder. You can view it on line.

From this site. I believe the 72's had an extra letter at the start of the vin.

John's link above for the decode on this site is dead nuts on for a chevy. Ignore the first diit, which would be a C for chevys, then decode as listed on that page. There's a couple small things left out on it, but forr 95% of the people on here, it works great.
Or, you can always just post it and we can decode it for you, half of us could do it from memory.
