dipstick

can you ride around with no dipstick? or will it shot out oil?

It won't shoot out oil, but you shouldn't drive around without one. Get something to cover the hole until you get a replacement. Don't want any dirt and junk getting down there, even though it wouldn't be much.

ok i drove up the road and the dip stick was sticking out about 2 inchs from the tube (its a small tube that is the wrong size) and it was smoking like crazy and smelled like burnt oil.. so i put a rubber cover over it and will try it tomrow

It may sling a little oil up there, but I wouldn't think it would get all the way out. Guess it did though.

Post how to's and pics of the installation. Seems that my 67 c/10 came with a '78 350 motor & tranny and the dipstick tube flew off as well. I'll take pics... Anyways GL.
