Question 65 chevy 250 engine question

New member with a couple of engine questions.
I recently bought a 65 chevy truck like the one I had back in the 70's.
It had a slight engine miss when I bought it and I thought I could tune it out. As it turns out I believe it has some worn down cam lobes from what I mearsured on the cam lifts. From the cassing numbers the engine is from the 66-72 time frame and I would like to keep it and get someone to rebuilt (long block) it.
It's a chevy 6 cylinder inline 250 engine.
Questions:
1. What should I expect this to cost?
2. Were could I find a new replacement oil pan?
3. Is having it shipped to an out of state builder a good option????
4. Any tips are very much appreciated.

Thanks,
KB

I wouldnt ship it out of state. There are plenty of good mechanics in Texas, but I would research each one carefully before choosing one.

Cost- Hard to say, but it will be alot! Labor costs will have that engine rebuild cost up really high. It will vary from shop to shop, but a good quality mechanic is not cheap by any means.

Oil pan-I get my new parts from LMC truck. I am not sure if there are references on this site because i am new too. They may have other vendors. If you want a link PM me for that as I am not totally sure of the rules here.

Tips- Do you have time/place to maybe do it yourself? It could save you tons of money.

KB, welcome to the board.
Jump on over to either the 60-66 board, or the engine & drivetrain board and ask those questions, you'll get a bunch more responses. Probably 99% of our members never look at this welcome section.
