Lowered my 69 SWB progress
I had a chance to lower the back of my 69 SWB. I purchased the ECE disc brake 4/6 combo with super trac bar etc. The first pic is the original height and the second is after I dropped it. I was planning on changing the tires but it actually looks good with 31's. What do you think? I am also replacing the painted bumpers with chrome ones. I'll get to do the front this weekend.

Re: Lowered my 69 SWB progress
The rear looks great. I myself like a tall tire on my trucks I usually run the 255's, but the 31's look fine to me. Are you going to lower the front any? I would atleast level it out or a little lower in the front.
I see you bought the kit ooops lol I think it will look great. That's a great looking truck BTW. Ray

Re: Lowered my 69 SWB progress
Nice clean old truck. Looking good so far. I think you'll be changing out those 31's out of necessity after you drop the front!

Re: Lowered my 69 SWB progress
once you lower the front you will have to get smaller tires at least in the front. It will look terrific once is finished..

But... so far, the drop is looking real good. Excellent choice on the drop as I don't think you can get a better looking drop than the 4/6". Now, only two pics will not suffice, I/we need more pics! Love the color combo on your truck as well. IMO, that's one of the best looking colors ever offered by Chevrolet for these trucks. Do you have the matching tailgate? Nice work so far!

Re: Lowered my 69 SWB progress
Thank guys. I did find a pair of 15x7 truck ralley wheels in which I'll put in the front to offset the push out the spindles will create ( thanks for the earlier heads up 72BlckButy). Do you think I will still need to replace the 31's if I install the 15x7's up in front? I'm looking for the full look so what other size tire would work good?

Re: Lowered my 69 SWB progress
Louis, I'll have to measure my front tires tonight, but I believe you will have to swap the front tires as they will be more likely to bottom out while driving. IMO, a great looking set of tires of a set of 15x7's (f) and 15x8's (r) would be similar to what lolife99 is running on NO-LIFE.
Tire specs are: 215/70-15's and 275/60-15's Like I mentioned in our previous pm's, I'm currently running 235 75R15's on all four corners (not by choice) and they have done very well. I was alittle concerned with the tire height, but so far, so good.

Re: Lowered my 69 SWB progress
No problem. I actually had it written in a notebook at my desk here at work, when you told me your tire size previous I looked it up to compare it to mine in hopes they clear when I get my drop done. (which should be in the next 2 weeks when the weather clears up a little more )

Update: Lowered my 69 SWB progress
I had the chance to complete the 4/6 drop on the truck. The front kit was fun to install considering I had to use a fork and a sledge hammer to release one of the ball joints. I'm also curious why ECE simply supplied a 1/4" to 3/16" adapter for the front brake lines instead of supplying a brake line and having to reshape. Had a tuff time removing the brass tee fitting as well. I installed 15x7's in the front. The 31's do not rub nor bottom out and do a good job in filling in the wheel well. Just need to get it to the alignment shop. Below is a before and after for easy reference. thanks everyone for your help and suggestions. Next step is to polish and paint the grille and install new FRT bumper.
