Where Are You Guys Mounting Your Fire Extinguishers?

Pictures please!

I've got a '46, so space is tighter even than in a "newer" body style '47. I'm thinking under the seat but the hold down metal strap would not be easily reached if a fire suddenly broke out and I had to get it out of there as fast as possible.

Let's see what innovative things you have come up with?

What fire extinguisher?

If I had one I'd probably mount it under the dash in the center so as not to interfere with peoples legs. Put it on a bracket so the metal clasp can be undone easily and both passenger and driver have access to it.

I have a Fire Extinguisher in all my vehicles, all the fire dept can do about a car fire is cool off the remaining metal. so you loose the car and all your belongings as you watch helpless as it burns. they just make sense. mine will be in the center console of my '50

Re: Where Are You Guys Mounting Your Fire Extinguishers?

Thanks guys....I think! I came out of the Porsche restoration crowd and with an oil cooled car, a fire extinguisher is a given. I have a nice 5lb Halon unit I had in my last car that I kept when I sold it and want to put it in my truck.

Orrie, there isn't any "behind the seat" in a '46. Even if there were the space, my bench seat does not fold so there would be no access to it. I don't espcially like the idea but I may have to take Atomsplitter's advice and start thinking of a way to put it under the dash.
