wiring harness for 79 chevy

I think I will get a little more input here. What are you guys doing for a wiring harness for your trucks? I checked painless and it seems expensive. anybody else out there?

Re: wiring harness for 79 chevy

I used sheet metal to cover up the factory holes, and the wires go through the floor pan

I installed a Ron Francis Express kit and i´m happy with it!Looks pretty wild in the pics but we took our time and the wires are labeled every few inches!

Re: wiring harness for 79 chevy

I just got back from my auto shop and they quoted me $400 for a 12 volt circuit and $600 for an 18 circuit. The catalog called for part number 10205 for my 79 the 18 circuit, but I only need a 12 circuit. there is a universal 12 circuit kit 10103. should this work? just do not want to waste $200

Re: wiring harness for 79 chevy

replied to your PM Chris.

Bottom line, the 18 circuit is a bolt in deal, no cutting, no aftermarket looking fuse block.

Re: wiring harness for 79 chevy

A lot of it boils down to your plans for the truck. If it is going to stay stock, I would look at some of teh stock replacement harnesses from Brothers, LMC, etc. If you are planning on modifying a lot of things, then a universal harness would be the way to go.

Re: wiring harness for 79 chevy

I checked the page and it is the wrong one. I am going to call painless and see what they say. I have heard a lot of good things and they always use them on muscle car and those shows. so I plan to go that route just need to know what will work. no plans to add anything later, but have time to think about it. thanks
