I modified a 6.0 for a customer today it is going in a 67 Gitmo. I Drilled and tapped the water pump for the steam line. I have done it on several lt1s but his is the first one on a ls series motor. The ones I have done before either had a line into the rad hose or into the top radiator tank. Neither option will work for him. You probably would have to hold up the steam line to bleed off the air when you fill it with water initially. Jay

A few have done that with no problems. You can also use a surge tank and plumb it into that. you can also plumb it into the top radiator hose with one of these
FITTINGS if you scroll down they even have one with a sight glass. Fairly inexpensive solution. This is also the way one of the early corvettes did the steam line but the part is no longer available.

i did this! i dont drive mine in cold weather and in summer i dont have to worry about the TB getting extra warm for no reason!

The steam line does more than just warm the throttle body (in my LS thread in my signature is a link to a cooling article that can explain it better than me). The steam lines are a means for venting steam out of the cooling system (should be all liquid). Air pockets in the heads can cause cooling/overheating problems.

I have heard some people take the steam line and run it into a container with coolant in it. With the engine running they watch until there are no more bubbles/steam that come out of the line that is held under the coolant level in the container. When only liquid (no bubbles) come out ofthe steam line they cap it off.

I am either having a port added to my radiator (about $50) or I am going with a surge/overflow tank.
