late model chassis

anyone got or started a 73-87 body on a 99-09 chassis or front chassis clip ?? i was thinking about that today if it would work ! of course some major mods would be needed !!!

I think it can be done. I seriously looked into this when a friend offered me his wrecked 2500HD 4x4 for a good price. I didn't do it with mine because I decided I wanted to keep the solid front axle. I should have bought it just for the engine swap parts but wasn't thinking about that at the time.

The wheel base and engine placement relative to the firewall will have to be addressed but I think they are easily addressed with a cut off wheel and a welder.

The worst thing would be starting with a low hump 2wd square body cab. I think the trans tunnel would most likely be in the way but if you can handle the frame mods the floor pan is no big deal.

Maybe doing just the back half of the frame would be a better way to go and the wheel base could be easily addressed this way just like the long bed to short bed conversions are done.
