NP201 Anyone?
I was wondering if anyone here is familiar with the NP201. I found a divorced one dated 1959. It has 1.94 to 1 ratio cast into the case and looks very similar to a 205. It also has the driveline brake drum which I thought was kinda cool. I guess what I'm wondering about is the strength compared to a 205. I know it is stronger than the Rockwell that's there now but just wondering if anyone here had any experience with this case and any parts availability.

Re: NP201 Anyone?
No experience at all.My only concern is parts, same as the Rockwell though.I imagine seals may be all it would ever need.I`d think an older piece would be like most anything and be overbuilt compared to later stuff.I don`t know what improvements would have been made going to the NP205,if any.I`d love to find an exploded view of one to compare with other cases.

Re: NP201 Anyone?
If I can find any info and can figure out how to post it, I certainly will. Originaly it had twin sticks like an old '57 Napco with a Spicer 24 that I had. Unfortunately this did not come with the shifting hardware so I will have to figure that out as well as how to get the drum parking brake to work. I noticed an earlier post that said that you have a PTO on yours but I wasn't sure if you had the t-case in the truck yet. Have you run it yet? How do you like it?

Re: NP201 Anyone?
Just found a place for parts. I may call later if I have time. It's a Dodge/IH parts place. www.jobrated.com. Sorry but haven't figured out how to post a link yet. They seem to have parts and PTO stuff. I will try to call later. I think you are right though Special-K, this thing is so heavy that I dont think I could possibly break it. I would like to replace the seals though.

Re: NP201 Anyone?
That`s cool you found a source for parts and info.I wondered if t would have been twin-stick.I think everything was back then. That`s how I remember trucks when I was a kid.I`ve never had a NP201.Where was that pto talk from?I just figured out how to post a link and I`m on the staff. Typing a web address automatically make a link (I already knew that part).

Re: NP201 Anyone?
Oops. That was 1969GMC that had the np201 with the PTO...My bad. Too many good sources on this board! I think I'm gonna repace the T221 with this new case as soon as I do the LS engine swap which could be soon!

Re: NP201 Anyone?
Will do. It may be a little while though as I'm still deciding on the engine /transmission combo. 6.0L LS/700r4 or 7.4-8.1 BBC and 4L80E. The divorced transfercase will allow almost any option with a 2wd transmission. Without the difficulty of finding mating adapters, it's almost harder to choose the combo. That's an entirely different thread though! Thanks and I'll try to keep up on this!
