WTT Blazer Windshield Frame for 72 Tow Hooks

As many of you may know before the salvage yard crushed a 1972 Blazer, I went and got the Windshield frame. This frame is in very good condition, no rust or dents. I realize that it's tough to sell after the holidays so I want to trade for some 72 tow hooks. I have seen these frames go for $200-250 on this board and on eBay. I am willing to make an even trade (shipping negotiated) for tow hooks because I've seen hooks going for $200-250. However, a straight up even trade with shipping included would be tough because tow hooks cost $20 for shipping and the frame around $60+/-. We would need to work something out, pick up, shipping contribution, ideas, etc...??? I had discussions with Hugger but we could not agree on a trade. Here are pics, answer in the thread and I can post or send more pics if needed, thank you.

Re: WTT Blazer Windshield Frame for 72 Tow Hooks

Are you looking for 72' extreme bend tow hooks or 69-72 style? The reason I say one or the other, the 72' only hooks are still worth more than 200-250, and would be close to a straight up trade value after shipping your windshield frame. The 69-72' style are the ones around what you have seen. Just thought I would help a little bit. Trevor

Re: WTT Blazer Windshield Frame for 72 Tow Hooks

I am only looking for the regular '72 hooks not the extreme bend ones. I beg to differ, the '72 only hooks sell here for $225-250, check the recent sale threads. On eBay hooks sell for $200-250, in fact there is one right now with a buy it now of $250 and a starting no reserve bid for $199 The market is down for these and everything else.

Re: WTT Blazer Windshield Frame for 72 Tow Hooks

I have to agree with Trevor on the value of the '72 extreme bend tow hooks. I've never seen a set for less than $400. I even saw a set at the last swap meet for $650.

Example..

http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...&highlight=tow

If you can buy the extreme bend hooks for $200-$250 locally I suggest that you buy all you can and then sell them here for double the price.

Now the 69-72 hooks can be had for $250-$350 on a daily basis.

http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...&highlight=tow

Which hooks exactly are you talking about?

Re: WTT Blazer Windshield Frame for 72 Tow Hooks

I can send you the ebay link, there was a very nice set of '72 extreme bend tow hooks that ended this morning, his reserve was $400.00 and Buy it Now was $425 with free shipping. I bid to $300 and they never got above $280. I almost bought them but even at $400 ugh... Here is the Ebay #170427935860 I am not trying to trade for extreme bend hooks as the value is still $400-500 easily. I am trying to trade for the regular 69-72 ones. Check the pics... yes 69-72 and '72 only extreme bend are two diff sets they installed on '72 Blazers. I never said I could buy extreme hooks for $200-250 To clarify, yes I said '72 only regular hooks but also meant the 69-72 regular hooks, not extreme ones.

Re: WTT Blazer Windshield Frame for 72 Tow Hooks

too bad the frame didn't get saved. bodies are plentiful, but 2wd blazer frames are rare. it would save having to modify a pickup frame to fit.

Re: WTT Blazer Windshield Frame for 72 Tow Hooks

Hard to tell the difference in the hooks on that pic.
Don't mean to jump in here, but since we have been on the subject it would be much easier than starting a new post.....
I just found a set of these hooks laying in a junk blazer so I grabbed them for a few bucks. I was there getting a transfer case torque mount from the same blazer.
I assume these were originally on the blazer as they were laying in the floor.

Anyone have a pic where these are supposed to mount?? Never had a blazer with the hooks before.

Re: WTT Blazer Windshield Frame for 72 Tow Hooks

I don't have a close up, but here is mine with '72 hooks. They mount on the outside of the frame, vertically. The holes in my frame were factory drilled, but from what I understand, not all frames had the holes drilled.

Re: WTT Blazer Windshield Frame for 72 Tow Hooks

Firebirdjones, nice find in the Blazer. As Hugger said there are two holes in the front of the frame. Most '72's have them but some don't. Here are some pics I found on the board. If you found tow hooks, great find!

Re: WTT Blazer Windshield Frame for 72 Tow Hooks

Those pics really cleared it up for me,,,thanks. Mine definately have those funky bends that kick way out to the sides like those shown on the 72 only.
Seems kinda strange they would be a one year only thing, yet the 69-72's in the picture serve the same purpose.
Don't see the reason for the design change and then only have it for one year???
Oh well, anyway, I looked under my blazer and it already has the holes in the frame for the hooks. Simple install. Thanks again for all the help.

Re: WTT Blazer Windshield Frame for 72 Tow Hooks

I've read that these hooks were also used on other trucks. Possibly school buses, but I'm not sure about that. Can anyone confirm?

Re: WTT Blazer Windshield Frame for 72 Tow Hooks

Wynne, I have seen the 60-68' style on an older c60, but other than that, I have never seen them on anything but these style trucks. Trevor

Prices on these things have come down a little bit. I paid $285 for my "normal" '69-72 set a couple years back but they are sitting on the boards longer than they used to.

Re: WTT Blazer Windshield Frame for 72 Tow Hooks

That's just crazy money for some old tow hooks. In my opinion even $50 is high for those things. I mean we aren't talking about something that is numbers matching concours required here.

I just stumbled on mine, and they were thrown in with the deal for the transfer case torque mount at a whopping $30

I'd have to admit if the tow hooks added much more I would have tossed them back in the truck

I've paid stupid money for numbers matching parts for the 69 Z and my 70 Formula among other cars, things that just aren't reproduced and "make or break" a correct restoration.........but tow hooks???
