Cup holder/Semi-console

So I've been kicking around the idea to make a small console to mount on my tranny hump. Anyone have any pics?

I want to have a shift boot and cup holders built into it. I have a bench seat and a bodydrop so I just want something small and functional. I plan make it out of wood and wrap it in vinyl to match the interior. Ideally, it should look like something that came from the factory.

Below is a quick cad style drawing of the overhead view and front... plus the shifter trim ring and cup holders I want to use. I have a Saginaw 4 spd with Hurst link and Hurst 'T' handle.

Any ideas or comments?

Re: Cup holder/Semi-console

I like the drawing.. looks nice.

My only suggestion may be to radius the corners to match the curve of the cup holders, I think it would look good since you have the area around the shifter in such a large arc.

Good point about the cup holder radius! I'll add that. I think the outter edges will all be rounded too. I just need to make sure it can be wrapped easily.

Yeah... I thought about that too, but not having personal experience covering stuff like that I don't know how difficult it would be or what would have to be done (Pleats?) to cover a radius.

I know you have a bench seat but thought this might be of some inspiration..

Re: Cup holder/Semi-console

That gives me some sort of reference. Thanks!
