72 c10/307 lower radiator hose question

I'm trying to install the lower radiator hose in my truck. the hose is a Carquest Gates pn 20694. its a moulded hose.the problem is the way its routed it runs across the top and inner side passenger side frame rail. at this point it rubs and colapses the hose to about half its diameter.

anybody else have this problem

who else makes a hose for this application.

The web site I found for that hose # says "cut to fit" for a '72 Chevy.

I have the same set up and I had to cut about 2 inches off at the motor to stop it from kinking up

I have a similiar issue on my 69. Doesn't kind the hose as much, but the frame rail bends up there, and I am waiting for it to cut through the hose. Except for some plastic tubing wrapped around the hose, don't have a solution.

I have the same issue with the 307 in my truck. I bought my hose from Napa. I cut several inches off the water pump end. It helped, but it is still brushing up against the frame. My solution was to take the old water pump hose, cut it down, slit it down the middle and lay it in between the frame and the new hose. I would rather it wear through the old hose and not the brand new hose.

Thanks brn agn. Glad to know I wasn't the only one. If the frame at least wasn't bent up at that spot, it would probably be okay. I have even tried a flex hose, with simiiar results.

maybe if I hit a tree with that side of the truck.....or as another owner pointed out try puttin it on correctly....I was trying to install it bass akwards. it looks like it should fit the other way.
