Ryan has made this sweet Cargo light insert. When the your cargo light is off and your foot is not on the brake, the cargo light looks completly stock. You cannot detect that anything has been done.

However, when you turn your cargo light on, the light is about 3 times brighter then stock and way whiter. Then when you put your foot on the brake the light is a brilliant red. Here are some pics. This is the best and most satisfying modification i have yet done to my truck and consistent with the whole modification philosophy on my truck. Keep it mostly stock in appearance, keep it simple .. but make it trick.

here's how you hook it up

the insert has a standard bulb on it for the cargo light. all you do with this is put it into your cargo light socket in place of the stock bulb.

the insert also has a positve and negative wire off of it. You will see that i have used a stock gm connector to hook the postive wire to a green wire that runs along with the stock dome light wiring to under the dash. I will show you where to hook this in in the next picture. the negative (black wire) just goes to groud, I ran this wire with the stock dome light wiring and put a spade connector on the end and used the screw that holds the high beam swith to the floor to ground the connector to the body.

the wiring is very simple and easy to do. (took me about 15 minutes!!

here is the underdash connection. The mess under my dash makes this look more complicated then it is. One connection must be made! All you need to do is use a splice connector (in blue in the pic) to connect the postive wire (in green in the pic) to the stock white wire coming off the brake switch. With this connection when you put your foot on the brake, the postive wire is energized to get the red leds in you cargo light housing to turn on.

Fyi,

this truck did not originally come with a cargo light. So for all of you that like what you see, you can easily add the stock cargo light housing to your truck. (i think the truck shop in orange ca, sells the stock cargo housing for 30.00.. you will also need the lens and the screws... which i believe they have).

Point is this mod is Sweet and I love it so much i'm going to do it to my red 1971 4X4 truck. Ryan and custom classic LED's RULE.

Please let me know if you have any questions. I have the original instructions that tell you how to make the hole in the cab to put the cargo light in. If you place an order with Ryan, or joel I would be happy to get this information to them, so that i can be included with the insert. I took this to the pomona swap meet last weekend and about 20 guys with these trucks wanted one!

The LEDs I used are the same LED used in our tail inserts with brakes applied. And the insert Tom has uses 84 LEDs! The picture most likely isn't justifing the brightness. So trust me it's bright! These inserts are the Deluxe, Top of the line version.

Maybe Tom can get a picture of the board itself.

I make third brake light/Cargo inserts, as I get an order.

just so everyone is clear. the red lights for the 3rd brake light are very very bright. The funny thing is they are really elusive and difficult to take a pic of. (a digital camara, makes them look pink, and a regular 35mm camara makes them look red but dim)

Trust me though they are very bright.

I will post a pic of the insert later, for those that would like to see it.

On 1st option is just RED LEDs third brake conversion. 45.00

2nd is 12 White LEDs, and 54 RED LEDs cargo and third brake 75.00

3rd Maxiumum LEDs 24 White 84 RED 110.00
