Re: dash pad????

Fiber glass over it and smooth the dash pad but thats some real work and is a pretty custom touch. I'd suggest a dash cap mabey?

Re: dash pad????

I covered mine with leather for less than the price of a cover or new dash.

Re: dash pad????

You could also try foam.

Foam-Not-Fiberglass

It is lighter than FG.

Re: dash pad????

I actually used marine flexable bondo on a dash pad on one of my project BMW's and it looked factory after I finished. All I did was bondo the cracks, sand them flat and paint it back to black.

Yep we have been doing that since the late 70's. Both rigid foam 2,4,6,12 LB
density and 2 part spray foam. Made all kinds of dashes and consules and molds using it.

Great stuff

Excellent idea, bro. I'm a firm believer that rhino lining (I just call it that like coke, q-tip, band aid, etc) has many uses that people just need to figure out. You found a great one. That will add strength and durability to that dash. It reinforces it, and it makes it scratch proof.

Hell of an idea that only the genius of a Hoosier could create!!

Not sure if you've already seen this from where I posted it before, but I had it done on the inside of an old truck tool box. It went from being old and grimy and disgusting to BETTER than new!

Re: dash pad????

I have the leather dash and the dash itself cost about $70. I talked to the shop about covering the dash and it was so cheap we talked about a few ideas for the whole interior and it cost $700 for all of it. A new replacement dash is around $500 so I feel I came out good. Here is the best pic I have of it right now. I can get a better picture if needed. The cost on the interior was covering only, I cleaned everything up and installed sound deadener myself before the shop got it.

Re: dash pad????

I had a shop do for me. I have covered stuff before but not experienced enough for that shape. He gave me a good price so I let him do the whole interior.

Re: dash pad????

I'd love to see some bigger pics of that leather dash if you could! I'm thinking of doing the same thing in my Camaro.

Thumbs up Re: dash pad????

Sweet! I hope mine turns out half as nice. I like how you painted the vents so they blend in and look like they have been deleted.
