Drum to Disc steering stop question..
i have a 70 chevy 1/2ton that i am currently converting over to disc.
I am using the drum brake upper and lower control arms, and using 82' 1/2 ton chevy spindles. I have heard on this board that the steering with this set up does not allow as much movement as a 71-72. do I need to grind some material off of the spindles at the steering stops ? or what? has anyone done this? i was getting ready to start putting my suspension back together, so I figured the last minute was the right time to ask questions. later tommie 70 swb (all torn apart right now) |

ive done it with 68 arms and 72 spindles, and doing it that way reduced steering radius of the truck quite a bit, id go with same era lower arms as the spindles youre using, 71,72 or 73-up
good luck |

I used 71-72 arms (lower), with 75 spindles on my 69, as it was swapped from 3/4 to 1/2 ton parts. i cant say how much needs to be ground on the stops, but its a doable deal.....Ill just bring the thread back to the top, & let one of the guys that has done the grinding give the specs..........good luck, crazyL
