Guys with ZZ4's and headers HELP
I have a ZZ4 that I'm going to be putting in my 72 (2wd automatic ) soon, and need some advice on the kind of headers to run. The heads have D-shaped exhaust ports, as well as angled spark plugs. So it's my understanding that your everyday header isn't going to work. I've found block hugger style headers that work with these heads, but am concerned about clearing the crossmember on these trucks. Anybody running a zz4 with headers?

Re: Guys with ZZ4's and headers HELP
i had a 55 sedan with the zz1 with the d shape ports. ran a set of doug thorley headers for a while but ended up running the 2 1/2 inch ram horn manifolds on it. might try looking at a set of lt-1 manifolds unless you have yous heart set on headers, as they have a d shaped ports as well.

You don`t have your signature made out.Is your truck a 2wd or 4wd?...Different clearance on crossmembers.

Re: Guys with ZZ4's and headers HELP
Truck is a 2WD, auto trans. My heart isn't set on headers, I just want to get the most out of the motor that I can, within reason. Any ideas are greatly appreciated.

Re: Guys with ZZ4's and headers HELP
My engine has the same heads, I called Sanderson and they hooked me up! They fit perfect, easy to get to the plugs, collector in the right place. No leaks from the headers as well.

Fastom,
Are those block huggers, mid or full length headers you're running? |
