If your 49 is a short bed you need a 2wd regular cab long bed s10. Doesn't matter what year.

Re: s10 help need info

Are you going to make your own cab mounts or buy a kit? EZswap makes a really nice kit, kinda pricey though. But it has everything you need to use either a V-8 or a 4.3. Either way you'll have to move the motor back. You might look through the forums, there's a lot of info on here and a lot of people that know a whole lot more than I do.

Re: s10 help need info

mine is on an 89 s10 frame with 4.3 ltr and I did not have to move motor back. I used the AD-engineering kit and it was easy and had everything I needed to do the swap and it is a lot cheaper than the ez kit. But if I were to do it again I may make my own since there are plans on here.

long bed single cab or extended cab short bed same anything after 92 is a little harder because of electronics, I think. s10 body mounts can be used just cut and move or you can get a kit. If your buying an s10 use all you can. Also I got on craigs list had 5 people call me in an hour 3 had body's stripped off already, anywhere from $100 to $150

Extended cab and shorten it to 117.5" so your rear axle is in the right place. It's a 45 minute job to do. Grind the welds from the front half and cut the rear section. I made a
5" lap joint for a better weld!
