a good friend of mine has one. its a 68 that his dad bought new. and his dad past away a couple years later and he has had it for 30+ years. his was an original 307 but he built up a 396 that he pulled out a a chevelle and thats whats powering it now, along with a 4 speed muncie and 3.73. he also used a 72 front disc set up on it. its got working a/c also. currently he just uses it to haul lawn mowers and motercycles around that he fixes. i'll try to get some pics some time and post them.

Blazerman's is the best looking long step I've seen. I have one as well, but a POS. 1970 GMC 3/4 ton leafspring truck with a Dana 60. It has some pretty interesting mods to the bed. The stock fenderwells have been removed and it has had some Koening boxes bolted on to the bedsides. Obviously designed for long steps, they make it look kind of like a Telephone Company truck, but with a lower bed that is a full 4x8. Unfortunately, somebody welded their version of a ladder rack straight to the bedsides. I think I'm going to make a trailer out of it. I'll try to find a pic of it. Beggars can't be choosers as I traded a pair of doors for the whole truck.

I have a 67 long step. If you can forgive a bit of salt crust, I'll take some pics this afternoon.
Hideous Creature! hey, I resemble that remark! OCB p.s. I actually prefer the long bed. Even in appearance. |

This belongs to a customer of mine. Its a 69 C30, 1 ton with a 9' longbed stepside. This truck is a monster!!! It runs a 350 with HEI and a granny low 4 speed. He figures his MPG at it's best is about 8 - 10.

There's a pretty thrashed 67(?) 4x4 k10 just up the road from me. Are these fairly rare items? I wouldn't think this one was good for much other than parts unless it's particularly valuable.
Are rear fenders on these the same as short steps? the fenders on this one have seen better days......

Thanks for the info... We're not too far apart here... I see you're in West Unity.
I'm near Leipsic in Putnam Co. Are there any good sources for parts in Williams/Fulton Co?

MikeC, Thanks, its really not much to look at but it is one of the best running trucks I've had.
mtdave, I wish you still had the rear bumper off your old longstep, I have been looking for one like that for a couple years now, mine originally had that same style bumper but it's long gone. |
