Body Mounts-opinions?
Here is the question: I am restoring a 1972 2 -wheel drive Jimmy
and currently have the body off. I ordered an Energy suspension mount kit and then found an GM NOS mount kit, so now I have both. Which one should I use? I know this has been talked about recently and there were lots of different opinions. Are the GM ones worth the extra cash? |

I would use stock rubber, it will not be soo rough on your body, like the moly ones would be, and will be less body shock. I would go moly on the suspension, and rubber on the body.

I'm with racedvl. Polyurethane body bushings will just kill your ride, but will work fine on the suspension.
As far as "are the GM ones worth the extra cash", well, maybe - it all has to do with what kind of rubber they are made from. Some formulations of rubber will break down pretty quickly, while others will stand the 'test of time'. I would think that the factory that designed the bushings would know what type of rubber and which durometer (how 'soft' the rubber is) "should" be better on the body, but then again the rubber "doughnut" on my carrier bearing only lasted 12 years  .Good Luck!
