update on the progress of my 68
Well some of you may have seen my other thread about how i wrecked my 68 back in october and how ive started rebuilding again.
since the wreck, ive tore her all down and started again from the ground up. i got a beautifull new frame shipped up from georgia, and a perfect cab from mexico that a friend brought up for me. luckily my box wasnt hurt at all. so that was my start. I also picked up an L79 327 and rebuilt it with the origional chrome dual snorkle and chrome valve covers, along with my origional th350 and 12 bolt 3.73 posi rear. as of now ive got the cab done and mounted, the engine and tranny are done and mounted, and the box is done and mounted. the interior is finished as well. now im waiting for my new fenders and inner fenders to come in the mail. so heres some updated pictures of the old girl, shes getting there!!! first pic is right after i restored her the first time, pre wreck. second pic is after the wreck third pic is new cab after paint. fourth pic is new frame fifth pic is new cab, engine and tranny on new frame. and ill post some more in a sec

Re: update on the progress of my 68
Its a funny story about how i got the tach dash, i was walking around the wampsville car show last summer and i saw a 69 that was in primer and fulll of bondo, he wanted 700 for the whole truck but there was barely any parts, and no engine or tranny and it was all full of bondo, so i saw the dash and i told him i needed a set of guages for my truck, so he said hed sell them to me for $50!!!! He had no idea what he had sold me lol.. so i ran with that deal, took the dash home to test it and everything works perfectly! That was a great day for me lol! also, i plan on putting my origional rally wheels back on my 68, so if anyone is interested in these aluminums maybe we could work up a trade. i need a chrome front bumper and some other stuff. let me know. Dan

Re: update on the progress of my 68
Thanks guys! Yea the accident definatly sucked, but the bright side is im still alive and kickin and i get to build my truck again lol and this time around i have a little more money and time so its turning out nicer than it was the first time. It really helps when you can do all this stuff yourself. i couldnt imagine having to pay a body shop ten grand or more to do all the work on my truck and have it take a year or more to be done. I couldnt wait that long!! and i wouldnt be able to afford it if i couldnt do the work myself.

Wow, your truck is going to be very special with the engine setup. You are building the exact truck(-4spd) that I have always dreamed of having. 68 L79 p/u, what could be better. I love it. MORE PICS and updates if any, please...

Re: update on the progress of my 68
as you can see, ive got the whole front end back on, and got my ralleys back on with some new bf goodrich's. as of now, the truck is basically "done" except for putting the back bumper on, and the chrome trim that i had on the fender eyebrows and hood lip. Thanks to all members who have sold me parts, like roadking for the driveshaft and mtnmanchad for the front bumper and grille trim. Really appreciate it all guys! heres some more pictures for those of you like me who love pictures.
