From what I gather you need to watch your emergency brake cable, brake lines from the master cylinder, any wiring that might get pulled tight, gas tank fuel hose, t/c shifter and tranny shifter linkage, maybe even body to frame ground straps, watch bumpers so they don't grab the body.
Prior to lifting cab, loosen all body bolts. When lifting the cab go slow and check to make sure nothing is catching. Do one side at a time, After get one side done, don't tighten the nuts until finish the other side. Probably want to recheck torque on the nuts and bolts after 100 miles or so.

89Z71, I did a 3" body lift on my 88 chevy 1 ton, and my 93 suburban. The 88 was a stick and was a lot easier than my 93 with the automatic. No problems at all with the 88. No linkage adjustment. The sub on the other hand required quite a bit of extra work. (Rear A/C lines, automatic linkage adjustments, anti-lock brake lines to watch) Just watch those brake lines and make sure you take everything (wires, hoses, etc.) loose from the frame before you jack the body up. Also, most kits don't come with the cover piece for the back of the truck where the bumper meets the bottom of the tailgate. I ended up using a mud-flap like material I had laying around.

the main thing im concerned about is the stick. someone told me that i have to lengthen it 3" for the 3" kit. do they mean lengthen it at the bottom of the stick in the tranny or just lengthen it at the top of the stick by the shift knob to get the right hight for arm reach? im thinkin just arm reach. can some clarify this please. thanx O and one more thing, is it legal to raise the rear bumber or would this b too high. i already have a 2" suspension lift installed.
