6.0 standalone harness

Has anyone on here made their own standalone harness from their stock one. My buddy has the software to do all the ECU stuff but I am a little weary of tearing into this harness. I figure if he can remove the vats, rear o2s etc. maybe I can save a few hundred bucks.

Re: 6.0 standalone harness

I had wait4meperformance.com do mine, but I noted everything that they left before I installed it. After seeing exactly what they did and how it was done, I will do my own next time.

Here is what I noted from mine:

2006 Silverado harness, starting at PCM connectors and moving out from the PCM -

BARE WIRES:

White - G10 To tach (set tach to a 4cyl signal)
Green/White - G9 To fuel pump relay control (12v + signal to the relay)
White - To brake light switch, cruise (12v + when brake pedal IS pressed)
Purple - B33 To brake switch, for TCC (12v + when brakes are NOT pressed, open when brakes are pressed)
Green/White - G50 VSS, to speedo
Green - B58 To OBD II connector, in vehicle
Brown/White - G46 To SES light

3 Red wires - Each to a 12v key-on fused power source
1 Pink wire - To a 12v battery fused power source
1 Purple wire - To starter solenoid (tie truck’s PURPLE starter wire in to this one)

CONNECTORS:

• Fans (Green = Lo, Blue = Hi) These are ground signals to the relays.

• TAC module (Pin 7 PINK goes to 15A ignition +)
• Wires to cruise (with key in RUN position):
Dark Blue (cruise set/coast signal) 12v with set/coast button engaged
Gray/Black (cruise resume/accelerate signal) 12v with the resume/accel engaged
Gray (cruise on signal) 12v with the cruise on/off switch in the ON position

• DS coil packs
• DS injectors
• Alternator
• Coolant temp sensor (front of left head, for PCM)
• Ground
• Starter solenoid (see “1 Purple wire” above)
• Crank sensor
• Oil level switch (in oil pan)

MAIN HARNESS SPLITS IN TWO HERE:

One:

• MAP sensor
• Passenger side O2 sensor, front
• MAF
• PS coil packs
• Ground
• PS Injectors
• Throttle body

Two:

• Knock sensor harness on intake manifold
• Oil PSI switch (behind intake manifold, for PCM)
• Cam sensor
• Ground
• Driver side O2 sensor, front
• Transmission, drivers side
• Transmission, VSS, tailhousing
• Transmission, passenger side

Re: 6.0 standalone harness

LOL, I was at first too. But once I got it back and saw what was left, it started making sense. Once you get into it, you'll figure it out pretty quick.

Re: 6.0 standalone harness

Bob, how did they terminated the un-needed wires? Did they just clip them and stuff them under the loom, or did they use heat shrink to prevent shorts, or did they pull the whole wire out from the connector(s)?

Re: 6.0 standalone harness

I've been using Jesse and Hannah for over 5 years now, there's nothing to be "weary" of.

Oilbrnr - They completely remove any unneeded wires, including removing the pins from the harness connector.

Re: 6.0 standalone harness

I've called 4 times and have been greated quickly and they didnt hesitate to talk to me for 30 minutes explaining everything and answering all questions. I think for the price and all that is included, I will probably just go with them. Thanks though.
