Introducing a new truck and its member

Afternoon,
I've been gleaning as much information from the forum as I could over the last couple months since I bought my '72 Blazer. As much as I would love to do a frame up restore I just don't have the time or space to do it right now. That being said my main prioities are cutting out the bad parts of the bed and bed support beams and welding in some new ones so I can remount the rear seat. And then the same on the front. I use it as my daily driver right now but after I bought it I found out that the crappy carpet was the only thing holding the rear seat in and a couple of the bolts up front. I got the passenger seat pretty well bolted down so I feel safe enough to have a passenger, but my seat is only held in by about 2 1/2 bolts. So by summer I want it to be safe enough for the whole family to ride in along with some new shocks but those are the easy part. I haven't welded since highschool so I'll need to relearn that with some trial and error.

Guess I can only upload 5 pics so I'll post this up and see if everything is working. Also I hope this turns into a build thread so there should be more pics as a try my best at making it my own.

What options do you have, I see some tow hooks under the front bumper.

Re: Introducing a new truck and its member

Well, I'm not ashamed to say I don't have a fraction of the knowledge most of the members here have about these trucks and I won't pretend to. I'll be a learn as I go kind of builder.

From what I can tell it has the Cheyenne equipment package so whatever comes with that. A crate 350 with an unknown tranny. I think the axels are original, but rebuilt. Hell, I'm not even positive on the lift it has which is why I haven't bought new shocks yet. I know it has a 4" block in the rear and not a clue whats going on up front. No heat and a hole in the dash where a radio goes. I've wanted a first gen Blazer since my early teens when I first saw one.

Now that I've shown my ignorance I expect some laughing when I ask dumb questions, but try to take it easy on me.

Nice lookin' rig. If your lookin' to make it safe as quick as possible so the whole family can enjoy it, call your local vocational school. They could probably take care of it real quick for ya cheap or maybe even free. If you wanna cover up that wheel well rust for the time being you could use some stainless wheel well trim. Above all enjoy it as much as possible before that big tear down. Those tear downs seem to take forever for most of us, lol.

- drive it until you are ready to tear it down.

My local vocational school would not touch anything older than 5 years...I was bummed.
