Re: i have thought about converting

you'll need the full rad support, wiring harness, and front lower valance piece (connects the fenders)

i've done this a few times now

if you do it carefully, it can be done without removing the fenders and front bumper...i dont remove the radiator either, i just move it back....if there's not any bolts fighting you, it can be done in a few hours

I want to do this to mine so bad. But I just put a billet grille in mine so the front end swap will have to wait.

Re: i have thought about converting

Yes you will need the 88-91 burb radiator support. the swap isn't too difficult I have a few pictures in my profile album. Although I took off the 91gmc front and put on 81 bumper and lights billet grill and cowl hood.

Re: i have thought about converting

It can be done with your original core support but you have to fabricate some brackets for the headlights and cut some holes into the support!
I used some bigger lights and glued the marker to the bezel!
Came out great and is fully adjustable!

Re: i have thought about converting

It took quite a bit of measuring and they are very tight to each other but the result was worth the work and i haven´t seen it on another truck yet!

.... I know you have posted this before, just wanted to let you know I love it. We all know I am not a big fan of the Burb clip update, but this one is my favorites.

Bob, I think it's the bright read paint that sets this conversion on fire. I prefer the GMC update over the Chevy. That would look awesome with a late model GMC logo to break up the grill area.

Volker, that is cool!

I have seen the question asked several times, by myself included, but have yet to see an answer....what did the one piece headlight come from that several members are running? Newer that '91 vans?

Joe-volker didn't use the one piece headlight he has 2 lights.
Suicide63 sent me instruction on how to wire up the 88-98 chevy one piece headlight.

Yeah, I realize that...this thread is about converting to the newer so I was asking the question about the one piece lights....I thought the 88-98 truck one piece headlights were curved? are suicide63's lights from a van?
I wonder how hard it is to mount them to the core support?

Re: i have thought about converting

I love my GMC grill swap! Was not too bad either. One thing I learned with the wiring: When you splice your truck harness into the front clip harness, stagger out your connections so it can all fit back in your split loom. If you connect them all at the same place, you will not get it back in the split loom.

This thread reminds me I still need to find shipping cost on the extra Chevy setup I have in the garage.

yea, i beleive the one pieces are out of the 88-98 trucks, i dont particularly like it in my opinion, but its a way to upgrade lighting which is the only reason i'd see myself using them,

and btw, that yearone bandit trans am is SICK!!!!
