Re: front tires stick out diffrent
If your drivers or passenger side tire sticks out an inch more than the other, you have a major issue. Hope the frame's not bent.

Re: front tires stick out diffrent
Sure the "tires" are what is out of center and not your "body" ? i.e. driver's fender vs passenger fender distance to frame center is off . . . . ?

Re: front tires stick out diffrent
I've owned over 10 square bodies and all of the 2wd's have had that same issue, not quite an inch but definitly noticeable.

Re: front tires stick out diffrent
This black truck in my avatar is my 9th square body. Yes, the front tires stick out more than the rear but none of them have ever had an issue with the drivers or passenger side sticking out an inch more than the other. Something is either wrong with the body mounting or there is an issue with the suspension. May just bee more positive canber on one side than the other, hopefully nothing is bent. Grab a tape measure and crawl under there and let us know what you find.

Re: front tires stick out diffrent
id look into it too... maybe ask a front end shop. There is a thread on here where the OP has risted control arms... maybe the control arms is damaged or the bushing is bad?? Ive had four or five of these trucks and if one tire stuck out noticibly more id notice it, Of course the lowering would make this more obvious and i prefer my trucks higher

Re: front tires stick out diffrent
Make sure the cab is set square on the frame.
One of the problems with these trucks (when new) is that the cab is so short that when it was set on the frame at body drop it could be rotated to one side or the other. The hood is set to the cab, shooting straight forward off the cab but off to one side compared to the frame. Then the front end (fenders and rad support) are "squared" to the hood, equalizing the gap between the hood and fenders but causing them to shoot off to the side, too. One way to check this is to look at the gap between the front bumper and the fenders on each side. The bumper is attached to the frame and therefore centered; any difference side to side could indicate the problem above. This was not so much of a problem with the crew cabs, Blazers or Suburbans, because the longer body made it more robust against being set on there crooked. K

Re: front tires stick out diffrent
My '73 has the same issue, but my truck was in a front end collision before it was parked, years ago, years before I bought it. The body mounts took shape and dried out to this position. I noticed the body alignment issues when I replaced the fenders and hood. Right now they are adjusted to look 'square'. I haven't yet replaced them, but to me it looks like new mounts would be the fix for my situation.
Also, very good info Keith! Interesting...

Re: front tires stick out diffrent
Yep, keep everything snug, instead of fully tightening everything down, until everything has been straightened and aligned. Then nail it all down.

Re: front tires stick out diffrent
You may need to check you camber. You may have too many shims on one side if the top of the tire is out farther than the bottom. My 83 is bagged and when dropped they hit the fender but the same on each side, I just remove the inner lip so they don't rub anymore.
