Re: I got a ?

I have the original owners manual to my 68 3/4 ton and it calls it a c2500. So I would think the 1/2 tons were called c1500s. I don't know if anything changed in those three years but maybe someone else does.

Re: I got a ?

I'm about 90% sure the s15 came in the late 80s and were not full size trucks! If i am wrong please correct me!

Re: I got a ?

In the 67-72 era, A gmc C1500 is a 1/2 ton 2wd. K1500 is a 4x4 1/2 ton. C2500 is 3/4 ton, K2500 is 4x4 3/4 ton etc... I think the C15 is just a shortened version. I think technically they were just 1500, 2500, 3500, etc...
The s-15 and s-10 are throw away little trucks...

They did not make a 3/4 ton shortbed. Better check your glovebox info and your vin tag with your title and see what you have. And 8 lug wheels would be 3/4 or one ton diffs.

Re: I got a ?

some people think when they see 6 lug it is a "heavy half" or 3/4 ton. Then they have the info on the title chainged. (assuming that's what a "pink slip" is)

Re: I got a ?

Unfortunatly someone replaced my glove box door with a chrome one, so no info there. My pink slip (title) says "2500" and that's what my insurance company is charging me for. I am going to call my ins company tomorrow and see if it is costing me more than it would if it was licensed as a half ton. The title must be a mistake.

Re: I got a ?

My 1970 gmc 4x4 says k10 on the title and all it says on the truck is "gmc custom" on the glovebox. i have no trim, or emblems on the exterior except "four wheel drive" in front of the front marker lights. can't tell if the PO shaved them or if its factory. now i'm curious to see what my owners manual and warranty plate thing say.

The last three numbers are weird because where I looked it up (LMC) it says that all 1972 GMC's have 6 digits there and are the # off of the assembly line and start with 500001. Maybe it was one of the first ones made that year and it was the 506th one off of the line.
