Re: Lets See Some 6 cyl.

What's the goal of the swap- mpg's or mph's? Performance parts for the L6 aren't cheap and while you may see a mileage decrease with the V8, it probably won't be much and you'll have alot more power at your right foot if you need it.
Having said that, I had a high mileage 250 in my 67 backed by a T-5 and 3.73's along with a host of other goodies and tricks and my highest mileage was 18mpg on the highway, but around town I'd typically get about 14mpg. I know I could have gotten even better mileage if I had done a few more things.

The gold dual carb inliner looks like the one that belongs to Rob Fortier, the editor of Rod&Custom, for one of his truck projects.

All I have at the moment are just crappy cell phone pics. The first one shows how cozy the carbs fit next to the master cylinder.

Re: Lets See Some 6 cyl.

Here is a pic of the 250 in my panel. I think it is the original motor, but I am still not sure. It has a serious rod knock or possibly a bad crank bearing, but it just keeps on goin like the energizer bunny. A few of my friends said that it could go on like that for another 150K. I have a 350-700r4 combo to throw in it until I can rebuild it and put some kind of overdrive on the 3ott. Anyone ever see all that crap on the side of one of these things before? EGR and that flapper between the intake and exhaust? Bummer its a integrated head design cause I went and bought a blackjack header pipe for it, brought it home and found out it wouldnt go on.

Running the stock 250 in my '69... eventually it will be pulled, refreshed, painted and dropped back in.
