Posi rear Axle complete
I have a posi coil spring rear axle complete from my 70 GMC. This is a late 70 production rear end and it is wider than the 67-70(early). It is the same width as my 72 rear end. I am not sure of the gear ratio, but was told it is probably a 4.11(3.73 see pic below) because the truck was a I6 with 3 on the tree. Comes complete drum to drum but without fluid, as I had to take a picture and check the carrier. 6 lug axles, but if you want 5 lug they may slide right in, not sure on that one. Truck it came from was a county vehicle with 82k and so far all of the mechanical stuff has been in excellent shape. Diff oil was pretty clean and I didn't see any metal flakes. If you need more pictures let me know, all of the stamp/casting marks are clear. I do not want to ship this as of right now because I have no way to haul it anywhere(my truck is apart). It is located near Navarre Florida. Looking to get $350 obo
edit* carrier center pin was removed in the second picture because I pulled the axle shaft to measure it. Last edited by MAK191; 01-25-2010 at 01:17 AM. |

Re: Posi rear Axle complete
just found out this may actually be a 3.73 as the stamp on the ring gear is 11:41 which I think is 3.73

Re: Posi rear Axle complete
I may be wrong but I think that 1-70 is the date code for... Jan, 1970
I have 2 posi units here at home, the codes match the build of the trucks. This makes it an early built truck. Last edited by burb71; 01-25-2010 at 02:53 PM. |

Re: Posi rear Axle complete
Interesting, I will check the actual build date of the truck. I put my 72 axle assembly and this 70 assembly next to each other and they were same drum to drum. I did pull one of the axles out and measured it from end to end with a tape measure and it was roughly 31 3/8 which would make it the wider version right? i just assumed the truck was a late build because of the wider track.

Re: Posi rear Axle complete
You got anyone that would be willing to pallet it up and ship?
I really just need the gear and posi....the housing would be 'scrapped'.
