Gasser headers

Just wondering if anyone here has seen or done fenderwell/gasser style headers on 60-66 C-10's, or if it's even possible. I would love have a set of those with electric cutouts. I did a search but did not come up with any pictures.

Thanks

Re: Gasser headers

I'm also hoping someone responds to this question. I haven't seen any posts about fenderwell headers in our trucks. I'd love to have the same setup including the electric cutouts. I'm sure it would involve cutting away a large portion of the inner fenders.

I'm going to do it to do it on my truck.
I have plenty of room.
Been to Corpus a lot!
Where abouts in Corpus you live at?
Miss the barbecue in Texas.
Brother in law worked at NAS there.
I've got some pics later.
Do you have a stock front end?

I was thinking about this on my 70 if I can get the exhaust outside the frame it would help with my dragging headers...

Re: Gasser headers

Summit / Jeg's has Fenderwell Headers for small block Chevrolets that fit tri-5 Chevy's, S10's and Jeep's. You'd think one of those would fit a 60-66 or at least be close enough to use for some modifications.

I will email them and ask if they have any cross reference data.

Re: Gasser headers

I like dad rambler it would work so smooth with a set of side pipes....no issues with ground clearance or for that matter you could run out side the frame rail which is what it looks like he did?? eithter way no more exhaust isssues and super KOOL!

Re: Gasser headers

I think you can get fenderwell headers from spedway for a 567 chev car small block, those would probably reach out far enough to clear the frame

You can get away with Zoomies and Lakes as long as they are baffled...one thing thats kewl about us with older rides, the cops have a sweet spot for them...now ricers on the other hand, anything remotely loud and the lights come on.
If your interested still I found these on the HAMB, need a lil work but maybe worth a shot? http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/s...&highlight=sbc

Re: Gasser headers

Wow.. he wants $225 for those yet they are busted and rusted?

You can buy a set made for a fat fender passenger car from Speedway at this link http://www.speedwaymotors.com/Small-...ders,3821.html that are brand new for 179.99?

And then there is this link from Jeg's for 55-57 Chevy car fenderwell headers with a bunch of photos, these are $419.99: http://www.jegs.com/i/Hooker+Headers/520/2102/10002/-1 and http://www.jegs.com/webapp/wcs/store...-1&showValue=1

I know here in New hampster.... if its pre 48 than the riles are pretty loose if your running street rod plates....I'm not sure you could even get away with them though...there might ba something about where it exits just not sure....

I know with my truck and most pass vech they want it behind the last opening window ...all I can say is I have removed some window handles for inspection

Re: Gasser headers

A lot of that inner fender sheetmetal provides rigidity for the front of our trucks...I added down bars from the firewall to the frame to help strengthen frame to resist the twist of my engine's torque output.

I built my shorty headers to sweep back, and located the collector right at the rear of the oil pan lip. I then snaked the exhaust down and around the rise of the front frame rail. This is a three-inch diameter exhaust...

Just another option since it would be easy to add an electrically-activated cutout to this configuration.

Ah, I don't have any really good photos of the headers - I have a Pontiac in my truck, so the exhaust ports point almost straight down, and I have a front motorplate that blocks any view from the front. Basically, my headers are a swept-back shorty style. Mine started out as a mix of Hedman parts and spare tubing. But, there are many header makers that offer swept-back shorty headers for SBCs.

Did your buddy make them or buy them? If he bought them perhaps he could share who he bought them from and maybe also get P/N information?

Thanks!
