A\C - Defroster Problems

Having problems with A/C and Defroster.

When trying to get the defroster to work the air just keeps coming out the air ducts.

Replaced all the duct work, checked the vacuum lines. and electrics seem to be working okay.

Any help at this point would be way beyond a big help.

the door is broke in the diverter. the big black duct under the dash, the door breaks right at the pivot rod. when you move the lever, the rod turns, but the door just stays there

i fixed my with some really good apoxy and 2 large washers. or you can just buy a new diverter.

A\C - Defroster Problems

This is what I would check first. The cable on the front side of the heater vent, where the air should blow out. Look at the cable and make sure it is hooked up.On mine the screw holding it had come out. The cable was just sliding back and forth. Take your hand and work it back and forth and see if it makes any difference, if not the your flapper inside is torn. You can try and fix it are do as I did and buy a new one.

Get out and drive the truck this summer and have some fun!
It sucks not being able to hear!

LWB trucks rule, if you don't think so measure your SWB!
After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.

mtdave2 is right...the door is broken! If you take the box off you will see you can hold the door and turn the shaft. It fools a lot of people when they see the shaft move on the outside, they think it is working.

No one sells just the flap....you have to buy the whole diverter or fabricate one..i have same prob and till summer i just taped it shut or open can't remember to get heat out of the top defrosters. "Ricks" offered me a steal but i could not afford it 65.00 for the diverter box.

Ricks

bmg:

Is Ricks a company that sells the diverter box?

If so, do you have a web address or phone number.

I too may be in the need of one. Currently having problems.

There was a post on using strong epoxy on this unit.

Thanks
