new '66 project for $900
my wife surprised the heck out of me and bought me this '66 for christmas, she's too cool. she new i wanted one for a long time but i kept putting off buying one for myself for more important things, like the family and bills. so she bought it for me! the truck has a strong running 292 w/3 speed on the floor, pretty straight body, original CA black plates, and box of new parts, not bad for $900!!
my plans are to turn it into a 5 lug from the dreaded 8 it is now (which captainfab and many others have been giving me great advice on already, thanks guys!) add disc brakes, static drop (read: real low, motorboating!), flipped stock rear bumper, shaved handles, weld up some seems, custom tail lights, custom grill, split the 292 exh. manifold, dress the engine, do something cool with that dash, and eventually lots of flake and candy! I KNOW I KNOW! SHE LOOKS LIKE A GARDNERS TRUCK RIGHT NOW BUT YOU JUST WAIT!!

I like it. And, in case you already didn't know... your wife is a "keeper." You better treat her right.

Re: new '66 project for $900
Great score and nice truck also...keep her around, both the wife and the truck. Sounds like a good plan, but I would suggest doing it in small bites, instead of tearing the truck down to do it all at once, that way you can enjoy it and enhance the looks and driveability of it over time. Keep us posted on your progress and make sure to give you wife a big hug for hooking you up with a nice rig to start with.

Good deal on the truck... and a wife that understands. It is hard to get a woman that understands..

Welcome to the board - nice score on the truck.
BTW, I own a landscaper's longbed - anything wrong with that? Mac.

thanks for the pos. feedback guys and i'll let the little lady know you guys appreciate women like her! Nothing wrong with a gardners truck, really! i knew some of you might have been offended by that. it's just that how it is now, and how i want it to be, are two way different animals. i LIKE gardners!

x3. Very straight truck, and a wife with a good eye for vintage tin, and the enthusiasm to buy it for a present. Too cool!!

Very Nice!
Congrats man! Great looking truck and it sounds like you have a great plan for it and a great wife. My woman is finally falling in love with the truck now that she see's it coming together and that sooner or later she'll finally get to ride in it and drive it. She did help me put the bed on the other day.

Re: new '66 project for $900
Nice score (on the truck and the wife)!
It looks really cool all white, reminds me of when I went to a friends house when I was a kid. I looked in the cupboard and it was full of white boxes with black lettering "GENERIC CEREAL".
