Prostreet on a budget

What is the maximum tire size and the backspacing requirements do I need to prostreet my "78 Chevy without narrowing the rear end or frame rails

I've seen the hangers flipped from side to side, to the inside of the frame-rails. Widen the wheeltubs & get some wide wheels w/the right offset & you don't have to narrow the rear end.

I did this w/my 67 w/an un-narrowed 12 bolt, coil spring rear. I used 15x14" steelies w/10" of backspace & widened my tubs to 20". It's easier w/the coil set-up but can be done w/leafs.
