Welding ??
I'm planning on doing some patching of floor panels inside
the cab. I think I read or heard somewhere that if you performed any welding on a car body that you had to take care not to damage any electronics because of the voltage between the ground and the wire welder head. Anybody know if there is any truth to this? 67-72 trucks didn't come with much in the way of electronics, except for distributors and in-dash radios. Jim M. Mt Juliet |

In normal conditions, there's no reason to worry, but Murphy's law is enough reason to disconnect the battery... it can't hurt..

I never disconnect the battery on any of mine while welding. (I probably would if I'd only remember too! LOL) No harms ever been done to mine yet.
They built 'em right back then, no worries of frying your computer.

If you have a computer of MSD (or other brand) Ignition box you do need to disconnect the battery when welding. I have also been told of the MSD style boxes being destroyed when connecting battery chargers.
