Re: lwb to swb?? What would be a fair @@@

do they have a shop? are they professional or a hack? Are they experienced welders or just hobbyist welders? have you seen their work? will they plate the welds? is this a cut and paste or is it a frame swap and replace bed?Is this a 4X4 or a 2wd ? Are they doing the whole job or just part?
There are alot of blanks that need to be filled in here

A experienced frame man would do the job. On a 2wd long bed truck that I am doing a frame off resto on. Of Course I will have to get a bed for it. Please advise a good ballpark $ in anyone has an idea. thanks

Re: lwb to swb?? What would be a fair @@@

i talked to a guy a couple of years ago that told me $1500. i had a 79 3/4 ton 2wd crew cab that i wanted to make a short bed. he told me to place the bed on the truck and bring it to him and he would shorten the frame and mount the bed. i personally thought it was high but he was very good at what he did. i ended up selling the truck before i did anything to it so i didn't get it done.

I had perches welded on, shock mounts and framed shortened and cost me $175.

The last frame I shortened (68 C10) took under 6 hours start to finish, including lunch. I've traded parts or other services for the ones I've done, so I can't really give you a price. But you can use the 5-6 hours as a gauge.

nekkidhillbilly Please don't turn this in to a For Sale thread. That was not the OP's intentions.

Re: lwb to swb?? What would be a fair @@@

I was quoted $500 from a local guy (boardmember) to take my crew, cut frame, take my swb, cut frame and weld them together.
This included fixing the brake lines; the truck would be functioning except for the driveline.

But I had to deliver both trucks to his place with no beds on them.

I thought that was a fair price.

For a drive in drive out type of deal I would say 800 or so, to just shorten the frame and nothing else probably closer to 300 to 400
