Exhaust System questions Any pics of your setup?

Hi everybody I'm Andrew from Sarnia Ont. fairly new member. Well, I've got an 87' Chev V10 LWB with a 350, I'm looking to replace the super ghetto exhaust system on it (factory manifolds > old rusty mufflershop Y pipe > old rusty muffler > thats it...) with true duals, now if it will be right out to the back or half way down with turn downs is still uncertain. The couple things i could use some advice on are: a) would it be better to use headers? if so i've had a hard time finding a set for a small block 4x4. b) not using headers what is the best way to route the down pipe from the manifold ? (trickier on pass. side). And im guessing plenty of folks on here have done both of these styles I'd love to hear everyone's input on this and If anyones got pics they could post of their exhaust setup please share, i've never done any exhaust work so some reference photos would be great. Thanks!

Re: Exhaust System questions Any pics of your setup?

I would use this tailpipe package with Flowmaster Super 44 mufflers. Skip the headers, they just leak and are a pain.

Re: Exhaust System questions Any pics of your setup?

I have headers on mine and its a 4x4 its lifted so the pipes basicly goe straight back. no bends above rear. I bought it from a friend and the headers have not leaked yet, they were installed in 2002. I dont remember what kind they are.

Re: Exhaust System questions Any pics of your setup?

thanks for the replies, but if i use the stock manifolds (i might) how do you route the pipe around the transfer case and other obstacles? I've looked at different kits and things on websites but nobody seems to have pics of that area. And if im using headers would i still have issues with getting around the T case and cross member?

Yes, here is a shot of them.

I need to dig up some pictures. Yahoo took down my website. The bar has a U in the middle. The U sits under the axel tube.

I know you have them set up right and they are working, I saw in one of your exhaust clips that the bottom of the spring pack was cleaner where the traction bar snubber was hitting and holding.

Yo! Here's how to route pipes around a TH400 and NP205. Shorty headers, 2.5" piping, Summit "H" pipe kit and their turbo mufflers,...straight out the back. Sounds, and performs, perfectly:

Just get some long tube headers 1 5/8' primary 3' secondary. 2 1/2' exhaust pipes you dont really need an H pipe. FLowmasters are cool but i like my glasspack muffs. Quiet wehn putting around but real loud when your on it.
