So I thought I scored some buddy buckets...

But it turns out that the brackets don't line up in my cab, and after looking around here I realized that they must have come out of a Dodge van or truck. There is no center bracket, but the sides of the frame look different that some others I found here--the tube frame on mine is round on the ends, while some other Dodge versions are flat:

I paid $660 on ebay, which of course seemed like a good deal at the time since they are in decent shape.
Is there any way to tell for sure that these seats came out of a Dodge? Since they were advertised as coming out of a 67-68 Chevy, I'm working with the seller on getting a partial refund. What do you guys think is a fair price? In the threads I've found, guys have paid anywhere from $75 to $150 for the Dodge seats.

Those are for sure dodge seats. The frame, foam and covers are different. I have seen plenty of guys using the dodges in their chevys though. Most people can't tell the difference.

Did you pay $660 shipped?

I would say that they are still worth $250-$500 for the setup.

Thanks, Michael. Unfortunately, I paid $810 total, $660 plus another $150 for shipping. The only problem I see is that it might be a bit tricky to attach different end brackets, as the frame isn't flat on the ends.

No problem. Oh ok. Well here are my two thoughts:

1. Tell the seller that you are not happy with the fact that they are not GM seats like they were advertised as. I would ask for all of my money back and return the seats. Turn around and find the couple sets that are in the for sale section and should be able to get a set of GM ones shipped for less. If the sellers doesn't agree with you, you can file a dispute with ebay that they were not what they were stated to be.

2. If you don't wanna deal with it and like the seats and are happy with your purchase, figure out a way to use the seats. Find the other guys on here that use dodge ones and see what they say about making them work. I would still ask for a partial refund (half or more of the total you paid) due to them not being what he said they were.

Contact member msgross, he has a set of Dodge buddy buckets that he's installing in his '68 and he had another member here make a set of cab mounting brackets that look like the original GM brackets and I believe mount in the cabs original holes.

I believe he gave $150 for his seats, but don't hold me to that.

But you did! They don't fit now but making them fit will take you only a half day to make a pattern, transfer it to some flat sheet, cut it out and either weld it or get someone to do it for you. Cut a piece of white card stock about 6 in wide and about an inch longer than the distance front to back between the mounting holes in your floor. Remove the carpet from your cab and place the seats where they should go to give the correct sitting position with the holes in the brackets the same distance from the mounting holes in your floor on both sides. Slip the card stock under your seat mounts and position the stock so it also covers the.holes in your floor with about 1/4 to 1/2 in overlap on each side of the holes. Punch an awl through the cardstock and into the mounting holes then run your mounting bolts and washers through the card and into the mounting holes in your cab floor to hold it in place. Do this on both ends of the seat. When both sides are done, make sure the seat is still correctly lined up and trace the outline of the bottom of the seat bracket on the card stock and mark the location of the mounting holes for the seat brackets. Now you have a card pattern for a plate which gets trimmed and welded to your seat brackets that absolutely fits your floor! If you drill out the holes marked on the card for the seat brackets you can bolt the plates to the brackets to hold them exactly aligned when they are welded. It's a very fiddly job but 20 bucks worth of 10 gauge plate saves the investment you have in your seats. Not to mention that there are new aftermarket covers for those seats...when you need them.

That is spendy for a set of dodge buddy buckets... I would say they are worth about 250.00 plus shipping . I would ask for a refund as they are not what they were stated to be. for 800.00 you will be able to get chevy buddy buckets with a frame that fits with no modification. That's my opinion however. best of luck with your decision.

I purchased a set of buckets that look just like yours. Same color and everything. Mine cost $100.00 . Had them recovered for $300.00 . Had to make a bracket to bolt on the end of the seat frame, as those are set up for a Dodge. Sorry to hear ya bought Dodge seats instead of Chevy seats. Apparently the seller didn't know what he was selling. I think I'd try and get my money back, and send him back his seats, unless he wants to sell them to you for $100.-$250? Here's mine after making the bracket to work, and recovering them.

I just realized that this thread was almost 8 months old. I sure hope he got it worked out. That is a TON of money to spend on the wrong seats. This is a good reason to pay for everthing with Paypal. You can easily file a dispute and have a mediator work through it with you and the seller.

I have a perfect eBay feedback as a seller of 782. Part of that is because I do the right thing. Sometimes "STUFF" just happens and you have to make it right. I'm guessing that must have been a "buy it now" auction. Hard for the price to get up that high through an auction if it is not listed correctly. Hope it worked out and the seller did the right thing or you at least filed a complaint.

The biggest problem with paying through pay pal is you still only have 3 months I believe to get it handled, which is better than nothing if you pay another way. Hopefully he got something worked out with the seller.

This is true but You should know in 3 minutes if the part is right or not. It's not a good idea to just look at a part you have bought and assume it is right. Sellers on eBay make honest mistakes ALL THE TIME. This is why you have to check the part soon after receiving for reasons just like this. I hear what you are saying though DW. This is why it will ALWAYS be a "buyer beware" world. BTW....I have some ocean front property in AZ I'm gunna let go real cheap.

eBay was no help on this one. I was in school at the time, so I had the seats shipped to my parents and didn't check them out until I got home for Christmas over a month later. eBay requires you to file a complaint within 45 days, which I didn't, so I was out of luck. The seller also preferred that I send him a check to avoid the PayPal charge, so I made a mistake there too. Chalk this one up to a few lessons learned, I suppose.

I did forget to mention that after I complained to the seller, he did send me a check for $150, which was less than I asked for but a surprise nonetheless. And nice work with your seats OhioDan, they look great.
